Best food in an historic setting: Barnes, Olympic Studios
A community centre a century ago, then a legendary recording studio for the likes of The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, U2 and Led Zeppelin, this venue was converted into a two-screen cinema in 2013 by an enterprising local couple. Photos of the building’s storied past line the walls – the Fab Four in session, and so forth – while the programme sprinkles just enough classics in with classy new releases. The plush red reclining seats are splendid, but perhaps best of all is the bar/restaurant space, with a glorious chandelier tempting you inside, and a stellar dinner menu.
